Speaker Biography:
Suzie Wendler is a Consulting I/T Specialist in the IMS Advanced Technical Support group of the IBM Dallas Systems Center. Over the past several years, her major responsibilities have included areas such as customer support, critical situation analyses, IMS e-Business, SOA, and Connectivity projects. She has been involved in several onsite consulting projects including implementations of IMS On Demand environments, connectivity issues, Web access and Proofs of Concept. Additionally, she has presented at several User Groups, including Share; has been involved in IBM-sponsored activities such as road shows, and Technical Conferences; and has provided both technical and teaching support to IBM Education for IMS.

This Presentation, “” is a continuation of Jack’s June 8th presentation, “Managing Data for Long Retention Periods: Requirements and Challenges”.
Abstract:
The implications of recent legislation mandating data retention, data availability and data privacy practices have changed the requirements for retaining and managing data from operational databases. Required retention period have ballooned to many years, and in some cases, to many decades. This coupled with the Requirement to provide archived d data on demand and un-modified has created the need for companies to build a solid practice for archiving and managing business data from their online operation! All databases. The presentation covers the basics of database archiving and database auditing methodologies. Jack will also touch on a number of topics that require special consideration in building a database archiving and auditing practice. Topics covered are application independence, metadata independence, data authenticity, change management, storage management, and access control.
Speaker Biography:
Jack Olson has worked for 35 years in developing commercial software. He has held a variety of software development capacities for IBM, BMC Software, Peregrine Systems, and Evoke Software. He is currently Chief Technology Officer for NEON Enterprise Software. Over his career he has made important contributions to technology in database, database management, and data quality areas. Jack has several patents attributed to him, published several technical articles and authored a book entitled “Data Quality: The Accuracy Dimension” from Morgan Kaufmann Publishers. Jack has a BS degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology and an MBA from Northwestern University.

Abstract:
We have all used the IMS log for analysis. But wouldn’t it be nice if someone made it much easier to do? They have! The IMS Problem Investigator is a tool for extracting and formatting IMS log records in a most intelligent manner.
Speaker Biography:
Rick Engel has worked for IBM for 11 years and is a member of IBM’s Americas Technical Sales Support team for IMS Tools. He has been in his current position for 3 years and prior to that, provided technical support assistance for IBM IMS Tools internally within the IBM’s Silicon Valley Lab . Prior to moving into IMS Tools Sales and Support, Rick worked as a Sr. I/T Specialist providing consulting assistance for IBM customers running on the z/OS platform with focus on MVS, CICS, DB2, and IMS. Prior to joining IBM, I worked at two large St. Louis-based corporations in various capacities as a Systems Programmer and Technical Support Lead.
Title: HALDB Conversion Outages Measured In Seconds
Abstract: High Availability, Low Outage (HALO) is a product from NEON Enterprise Software that minimizes the outage associated with any database conversion or restructuring that can be accomplished without an application program change. For example, with HALO, customers can convert HDAM or HIDAM to HALDB PHDAM or PHIDAM without the long database outage normally needed for the conversion. This presentation will be an overview HALO benefits and how HALO is able to accomplish its mission.
Speaker Biography:
Bob Aubrecht has worked in the information technology industry for nearly 30 years with experience as an application developer, DBA, and project lead at Coca-Cola, mainframe SE, systems management overlay, telecommunications specialist, process reengineering project lead, and area software project manager at IBM, and project manager and management consultant at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. He is now in his fourth year at NEON Enterprise Software as a Senior Software Consultant.
